Pompeii

Among the most visited archaeological sites in the world, the Pompeii excavations are an incredible testament to the organization of society in Ancient Rome and the daily life of the Roman citizens.

Spanning 66 hectares, with approximately 45 already excavated, this area has yielded a wealth of statues, monumental structures, tombs, frescoes, and mosaics, kept safe under the ash and lapilli created by Vesuvius during the devastating eruption of '79, which entombed Pompeii, Herculaneum, Stabiae, and Oplontis.

The excavation work, which began in 1748 under the reign of Charles III of Bourbon, gradually brought to light the structure and everyday life of a flourishing Roman city. This was a highly significant commercial hub with a developed agricultural economy and a vibrant urban center.

The House of the Faun, the Villa of the Mysteries, the House of the Tragic Poet, the Forum, the Great Amphitheater, and the Sanctuary of Venus are just a few of the most famous stops on a journey back in time. Here, you can discover the customs, myths, and values of a bygone era that, nowhere else but Pompeii, truly comes back to life, enveloped in an aura of immortal charm and tragic poetry.
